Cruise Line Tycoon Roblox Controls & Build Hotkeys
Memorize the editor so every remodel stays fast and cheap.
Cruise Line Tycoon’s Free Beta editor rewards captains who treat G, F, and R as reflexes. Whether you joined after V2.0.0 opened free access or you carried an Alpha save into Beta, the same grid rules apply: place rooms, refund mistakes, rotate to fit doors, then sail. This page is the control reference every other guide assumes you have open while remodeling—pair it with Console & Mobile when you are not on a keyboard.
Core build keybinds (PC)
| Key | Action | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| G | Open item selector / place mode | Opens the build palette for rooms, walls, décor, propulsion, and V2 waterslide pieces. |
| F | Remove selected piece | Grants a value-based refund—prototype corridors without fear. |
| R | Rotate 90° | Essential for fitting cabins and service rooms on the grid. |
Drill these three keys on a quiet dock at Qanaveral before you commit tiles on a Somnio Class or Imperial Class hull. Undo/redo (Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y on PC where supported) further lowers the cost of experiments after mid-Alpha QoL patches.
Mirror tool and symmetry passes
The Mirror tool copies compatible items across an axis—invaluable for identical port and starboard cabin banks on wide decks. Not every piece mirrors cleanly: curved décor, asymmetric venues, some propulsion parts, and certain slide supports may refuse or flip oddly.
Workflow tip from How to Build: mirror one test cabin, walk the guest path, then mirror the full row. A crooked mirror line on deck three becomes a refund nightmare on deck seven of an Imperial. Money decks from Money Farm especially benefit from proven one-side prototypes.
Three-pass remodeling workflow
Professional Free Beta builders work in passes instead of random clicking:
- Structure pass — corridors, stair cores, bulkheads, engine room footprint, modular walls.
- Furniture pass — cabins, toilets, restaurants, crew bunks, bridge consoles for autopilot.
- Décor pass — paint, plants, lighting, summer items from Paint and Customize.
Switching between passes reduces the chance you paint a wall you later delete with F, wasting time after V2 color expansions. Waterslide parks belong after toilets and food exist—see Waterslides and Pools.
Refund discipline with F
Removing with F is not free money—it returns a portion of value based on live Beta rules. Still, refunds beat sailing a broken layout. Use F aggressively during layout prototyping on short voyages, then lock structure before premium Rooms and Amenities.
On huge hulls, batch removals: mark a whole dead-end corridor, confirm guest flow, then rebuild once. Imperial-scale refits without a plan burn hours. The bare-hull money trick (refund stock engines, rebuild income deck, reinstall propulsion) only works if you remember to put engines back before undocking—details in Power and Propulsion.
Rotation and tight grid fits
R rotates in 90° steps only. When a restaurant or medical room refuses to snap, rotate once and check adjacency to corridors. Crew bunk clusters often need two rotations to align doorways with service passages—covered in Hire Crew. Modular bar stools and diagonal walls from V1.20/V1.21 need the same patience; see Modular Structures.
Console, mobile, and on-screen controls
Touch and gamepad clients use HUD Build / remove / rotate controls instead of keyboard letters. The grid actions are the same; the muscle memory differs. Read Console & Mobile for AFK sleep behavior, zoom tips, and why complex V2 slide parks belong at dock. Do not install executors to “fix” missing hotkeys—see Script Safety.
Editor habits that save voyages
- Zoom and walk guest paths after every major placement session: spawn → cabin → toilet → food → leisure.
- Save fuel planning for last—propulsion edits may shift tank rooms; cross-check Fuel and Supplies after moving engine tiles.
- Keep Getting Started nearby if you are new; controls mastery means nothing if toilets sit three decks from cabins.
- Lock layout before advanced paint—V1.22 and V2 expanded painting; do not beautify walls you still plan to F.
Controls on large cold routes
Nothing about G / F / R changes when you sail toward Whitecap Cove or buy an Aurora Class at Hailmar. What changes is consequence: a misplaced reactor room on a nuclear refit costs more tiles to fix, and F refunds may not recover the opportunity cost of a missed voyage window.
Spend ten minutes in dock-only drill mode before every major refit: place, rotate, remove, mirror—repeat until your hands stop hunting keys. Then return to How to Build and lay out a complete guest loop without deleting half the corridor mid-voyage. When you are ready to automate income, open Money Farm and Routes and Autopilot with these controls already fluent.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Cruise Line Tycoon captains.
What does G do in Cruise Line Tycoon?
G opens the build item selector so you can place rooms, structures, décor, propulsion, and waterslide pieces on the tile grid.
Does F give a full refund when removing items?
F removes the selected piece and returns a value-based refund per Free Beta rules—not always 100%, but enough to make prototyping affordable.
How do I rotate pieces while building?
Press R on PC (or the on-screen rotate control on mobile/console) to rotate the selected item in 90-degree steps.
Why is my Mirror tool not copying everything?
Some items are asymmetric or marked non-mirrorable. Test one unit before mirroring an entire deck side.
